Book: 20231103 to 20231120, "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury

20231103 - Introduction 11

20231128 - Part 1: The Hearth and the Salamander 15

Similar to "Brave New World", this book is also about happiness vs meaning.

There are always two options: hard and meaningful, or dumb and meaningless. Most of people choose the latter. They are at the bottom of the social pyramid.

However, there is no meaning for lives. Life is just a game to everyone. In that case, should we pursue meaning or happiness?

Maybe it's about avoid pain. Endless happiness only brings us pain. Because that's against our gene.

20231111 - Part 2: The Sieve and the Sand 87

How to read a book?
1. Choose high quality books
2. Get plenty of leisure time
3. Apply what learned from the books to our lives

What the captain said are just meaningless sophistry.

20231120 - Part 3: Burning Bright 133

People are remembered by their actions, not but themselves.

So, we need to do something to fullfill our lives.

Remebering and waiting don't change the world. Surely those professors should do something. For example, inspire people to think.

For any project, we should set a deadline for it. So, we can focus on it and force our mind running fast.
So, we can get into flow.

There are many issues in details of this book. For example, the Fire controller, Beatty is way too smart and is too well educated. Those professors are too pedantic, and where does their food come from?.

Less and less people read nowadays. What's the best solution?

When AGI take over the world, when UHI (universal high income) spreading across the world, will people keep read? Or they would get addicted to virtual reality?

What should we do after gettign UHI?
