20210223 - Chapter 1. The New Human Agenda Old days wealth is based on material, nowadays wealth is based on knowledge. Knowledge or creativity? What's the relationship between knowledge and creativity?   When will China give up Jungle Law? When sustainable energy prevail, all fossil energy lose their temptation. What's the next target? Computer chips? Software? Biotech invention? None of these can be looted through war. If longevity keep increasing at 10 year every 40 year rate, by 2050, the average life expectancy may reach 90. By that time, I am close to 80. So I have good chance to live up to 100, but that's all. 50 more years for me. :-) https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/publications/whats-happening-life-expectancy-uk Government tries to give everyone a fair chance to purse happiness, but it doesn't guarantee happiness. If we are not happy, normally we cannot blame the government. Medical Care, pension, etc, as long as we get what other people get, we should not complai...

Focusing Now: An Introduction to the 25th Anniversary Edition 20210206 - FOCUSING:A Tool For Changing Times This book is about the wisdom of body. I know that our organ has their own "memory" and "habit", but never thought much about it.   Good to learn something new. part one - UNLOCKING THE WISDOM OF YOUR BODY 20210206 - 1. The Inner Act It's about "deep feeling". We normally get distracted by rationality and emotion. Rationality cannot tell us "what we really, really want". Emotion doesn't tell us where it comes from. Bodily wisdom tells us the source of our problems. 20210207 - 2. Change Focusing and bodily sense is like "Epiphany". It's the approach to find out our subconscious. Our subconscious is buried in many layers of "explanation". We need to keep digging until reaching the real bottom. Our mood is always changing. Normally we don't know why it goes up, and we don't know why it goes down. When I ...

Book: 20201117 to 20210124, "The Barefoot Investor" by Scott Pape

The tips I learned from this book: 1. Investment is all about "control". 2. Only insure against things that can kill you financially. -Black Swan. 3. Don't be afraid of market crash. The market has crashed many times, and even WW2 cannot hurt the share market for long time. p147 4. Australian Foundation Investment Company (AFIC).  AFIC’s  fees  are  around  90  per  cent  less  than  the  fees  of managed funds — and yet AFIC outperforms the majority of these funds.. p152 5. The more, the worse. Australia government looks after senior people relatively well, compare to other developed countries. The result? These people live in worst situation. They run out of money 13 years before they die. p160 6. For most of people, they need to put 15% of their salary into super. Thanks for the tax deduction. p165 7. Low income earners can choose low-cost listed investment company (LIC) like AFIC (ASX: AFI) or Argo (ASX: ARG) on behal...

Book: 20200906 to 20210102, "Introducing NLP" by Joseph O'Connor; John Seymour

20200906 - Introduction Introduction to the Second Edition;  "NLP is about always increasing the choices you have, and we understand by acting and experimenting, not by thinking about it." This reminds me of "The Power of Now". In many cases, "thinking" doesn't help. Don't get scared. Just do it. 20200911 - Chapter 1 What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming?; Santa Cruz, California 1972; Santa Cruz, 1976; Maps and Filters; Learning, Unlearning and Relearning; The Three Minute Seminar; Outcomes; Present State and Desired State; Communication; Rapport; Pacing and Leading; What is good painting? There are infinite possible observation of one object. When we are in different mood, we see a different world. There is no failure. We only get two types of feedback: positive or negative. Positive feedback verify our assumption, and negative feedback reminds us to correct our perception. The limitation of our perception is not like "territory", but mor...

Book: 20210101 to 20210122, "Elon Musk" by Vance, Ashlee

20210101 - 1. Elon's world In my opinion, Elon Musk is not like Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Howard Hughes or Steve Jobs. He is more like a computer. Half computer, half human. What he said is right. The shocking thing is his executive power for long term. He never forget his ultimate goal. What he did is always around the final goal. Riley's parties verified one thing: stimulation doesn't let people relax or recover. Money doesn't help. Psychotherapy or meditation should work better. Elon Musk is also lucky. a. The conditions for atom and bit integration are all there. But he is the best person to combine these two parts. b. Talented people get bored with current technical companies' innovations. They want to make real change of the world. c. There are plenty of cash in the market looking for opportunities. 20210102 - 2. Africa How to maintain the prosperity of a family for hundreds of years?  a. Encourage every generation to read. b. Marry "smart" person t...

Book: 20201005 to 20201124, "The 48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene

To pursue power is like playing card games. We try to    1. Figure out what cards the rivals have 2. Get better cards 3. Confuse the opponents 4. Understand their personalities 5. Get allies 6. Utilize some rivals to fight other rivals Etc. In the end, it's about improving the possibilities to win, and minimizing the risk and the loss of each game. Nothing can guarantee winning. But if we study hard and work hard, we will have pretty good cards, and normally can get pretty good results. ========= 20201005 - Preface These laws are part of natural evolution. Competition is competition, there is no moral or evil, just effectiveness. It's good to learn all of them, so we will have more options to choose, and easier to defense ourselves. But these laws may also cause critical damage. Zedong Mao is the master of these laws, but when he used them with ignorance of other scientific knowledge, he brought disaster to hundreds of millions of people.   The single most point I learned...
